After last weekend’s terrorist attack in London, President Donald Trump has been in a war of the words with the British city’s Muslim Mayor Sadiq Khan, who is calling for the American leader’s upcoming U.K. trip to be cancelled.

Unsurprisingly, Hillary Clinton has tried to enter herself into this fight in a desperate attempt to keep herself relevant. Unfortunately for her, however, her plans just backfired in a big way.

Daily Mail reported that while speaking in Baltimore for the Elijah Cummings Youth Program in Israel on Monday, Clinton bashed Trump by praising Khan for his “steady, determined leadership.” Though she did not mention Trump’s name, it was clear to all that she was implying that Khan is a better leader than Trump.

“It’s a time for steady, determined leadership, like we are seeing from local authorities in London, including the mayor of London,” Clinton said. “This is not a time to lash out, to incite fear or to use tragedy and terror for political gain. Normally this would go without saying, but we are not living in normal times.”

In the end, Clinton’s efforts to make Trump look bad here completely backfired, as even Democrats are now calling for her to shut her mouth and go back to the woods. The Hill reported that top Democrats are calling for Clinton to end her bitter “blame tour,” as they feel it is doing more harm to the party than good.

“Good God, what is she doing?” one longtime aide said. “She’s apparently still really, really angry. I mean, we all are. The election was stolen from her, and that’s how she feels.

“But to go out there publicly again and again and talk about it? And then blame the DNC?” the aide wondered. “It’s not helpful to Democrats. It’s not helpful to the country, and I don’t think it’s helpful to her.”

“If she is trying to come across as the leader of the angry movement of what happened in 2016, then she’s achieving it,” said one former senior aide to Obama. “But part of the problem she had was she didn’t have a vision for the Democratic Party, and she needs to now take a break and let others come to the forefront.”
